Where American Tourists can Travel in August 2020

COVID-19 has caused chaos for travelers. Border closures have cancelled millons of vacations since March. Recently, European travelers have seen travel restrictions lifted as the virus becomes more controlled. Unfortunately, American travelers are still restricted in many countries. This is due to the high volume of cases in the United States.

Some countries rely heavily on tourism to support their economy. Losing American travelers, which are classed as one of the most important markets has created a lot of difficulties for these countries.

The good news is, now we know more about COVID, how it is transmitted. With guidelines on how it can be controlled. New protocols are being put in place to allow American travelers to enjoy their vacations safely!

Here are the BOP countries that American travelers can enjoy in August 2020*:

Dominican Republic

One of the most popular Caribbean islands for American tourists is welcoming visitors in August! Hotels are well prepared with health protocols, sanitizer, and social distancing in public spaces. Visitors will be asked to provide proof that they are COVID free. Alternatively you can be tested on arrival at the airport. There are many all-inclusive hotel options, or private apartment and villa rentals available. All have been fully sanitized before reopening. Excursions are also running with limited capacity, so make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment!

Jamaica

It’s time to unwind from the stress of the last few months in gorgeous Jamaica! Travelers are asked to complete an online travel authorization card before flight check in. COVID testing may also be required at the Jamaican airport and PCR testing is necessary when arriving from New York, Florida or Texas. Jamaica has been preparing for travelers since early in the pandemic! ‘Travel corridors’ have been created to service popular tourist areas.

Mexico

Mexico was never officially closed to American tourists! Despite land borders being closed, air travel is open. With the help of a traffic light system, Cancun, Playa del Carmen and other popular tourist areas have restarted operations. Testing at the moment is not required before arrival as of writing. Hotels are well prepared for visitors with extra sanitation and social distancing protocols. The beautiful beaches of Mexico are waiting!

Dubai

Escape to the exotic with a visit to Dubai! Travelers are required to download a health declaration App to register their trip. Here you will also find the Health Declaration form which you need to complete before entering Dubai. You should have a negative PCR test within 96 hours of departure. Testing will also be carried out at the arrival airport. Temperature checks will be carried out at the airport and tourist attractions.
