BOP’s Lockdown ‘Fake’ation – Let’s go to Jamaica!

Right now, we’re all having to get a little more creative as we spend time at home waiting for the COVID-19 pandemic to pass. We love traveling as much as you do, and to be unable to travel at this time is very difficult. We must stay at home to stop the spread of the virus, but we’re still dreaming about our next adventure! Until the pandemic passes, we’re having fakeations in the safety of our homes, and we’d love for you to join us! We’re looking for awesome things to do at home to take us to our favorite destinations. First stop, Jamaica!

Chill with Some Reggae!

Set the scene with a Jamaican vibe and the world famous and unmistakable sound of reggae. You’ll find it easy to imagine you’re strolling on those beautiful Jamaican beaches. Bob Marley of course is the most well-known, but why not explore some other amazing artists such as the Toots and the Maytals, or Jimmy Cliff. This lilting Caribbean rhythm is exactly what we all need to ease our minds during lockdown!

Get Cooking!

Jamaica has the most amazing food, and there’s no reason not to try making it at home! Fill your home and soul with the spicy aromas and tastes of Jamaica with some jerk chicken. Or why not try your hand at curried shrimp? While you’re waiting for your homemade taste of Jamaica to simmer, sit back and relax with a rum punch! We’re looking forward to some Jamaican Flavor! Pick Up Some Patois!

Expand your language skills with the national language of Jamaica! While you’re waiting to travel to the island, you can pick up a few key phrases to help you out when you visit. Patios is a creole language of English decent, so some words may even sound familiar. It’s always fun to learn a new language, there’s no better way to get into the Jamaican vibe. Wah gwaan!

Get Crafty!

Get the kids involved and get crafty! Make some Jamaican Rasta bracelets, key rings or charms. All you need are some beads and string. If you fancy adding some cool new clothes to your wardrobe, you can turn any old white clothes into cool Rastafarian tie dye. Decorate your home with Jamaican flag homemade decorations, to bring some cool Jamaican vibes to your living room. With such a colorful culture to be inspired by, the kids will have a great time!
