Is the Dominican Republic Safe for Tourists?
As with anywhere in the world, the Dominican Republic does have some areas which are not suitable for tourists. However, these are very few and usually only in the big cities! Take reasonable precautions as you would normally in unfamiliar surroundings, do not walk around with flashy jewelry or leave your belongings unattended. It is best to stick to tourist areas and with friends or family if you are in unfamiliar surroundings during the evening. Feel free to ask locals which are no go areas and they will also be happy to advise.
